Shape the Future of Open Dance Classes with Ballet d'Jèrri

August 4, 2025

Ballet d'Jèrri is launching a brand new series of open dance classes this autumn, in response to popular demand from the Island's dance community.

Taking place on Wednesday evenings at 17:30 at the Jersey Opera House, these sessions offer experienced dancers a mid-week opportunity to move, connect, and grow.

Designed with previously trained dancers in mind, the classes follow a simple and structured format that supports lower-intermediate participants while still offering a satisfying challenge for more advanced movers. Whether you're looking to refine your classical technique, return to a regular dance practice, or explore new styles in a welcoming setting, these classes are designed to meet a wide range of goals.

Each week’s class will be taught by either a Ballet d'Jèrri company dancer, a team member, or a guest artist visiting the island as part of the company's ongoing projects. The primary focus will be on classical ballet technique, though some sessions may incorporate contemporary or improvisation-based elements depending on the teacher's background.

A flexible and evolving offering

As this is a pilot project, the structure and style of the classes may evolve based on dancer feedback and participation. Ballet d'Jèrri is inviting attendees to help shape the future of this initiative by sharing their thoughts and suggestions as the series progresses.

Booking and attendance

To ensure the sustainability of the series, each class will require a minimum of four dancers to be booked in by Monday evening (48 hours in advance) in order to go ahead.

If a class is cancelled due to low numbers, all pre-booked dancers will receive a full refund or class credit. However, please note that refunds or changes cannot be processed within the 48-hour window before a class.

Pricing

  • Single class: £15.00
  • 5-class pass: £60.00

All sessions take place at the Jersey Opera House, offering dancers a professional and inspiring setting in which to train.
