Dancing in the Light of Love: A Joyful Dance Fundraiser at Jersey Hospice Care Raises £2,000

February 15, 2026

On Saturday 14th February, the Jersey Hospice Care Day Centre at Mont Cochon was filled with laughter, movement and a glittering spirit of community as islanders came together for 'Dancing in the Light of Love', a heartfelt fundraiser that celebrated love, connection, and remembrance.

The event was the brainchild of nine-year-old local dancer and fundraiser Isla Lappage, who dreamed up the idea after losing her beloved grandfather. Isla wanted to create an afternoon that would help people feel joy and togetherness even if they've experienced loss. "I thought dancing and yoga and glitter would help people feel love again, even if they feel sad inside," she said in the run-up to the event.

Thanks to support from Eve Studios, that vision came to life on Valentine's Day with a vibrant schedule of activities designed to lift spirits and get everyone moving. Attendees enjoyed a series of dance and yoga sessions, along with face painting and creative activities, each offering a space to celebrate life and remember loved ones in a positive, supportive atmosphere.

Every class and activity was offered with fundraising in mind, with all proceeds going directly to Jersey Hospice Care, the charity that provides specialist palliative support and care for islanders and their families. Generous participants helped Isla raise an impressive £2,000 for the charity, a huge achievement for such a meaningful cause.

Reflecting on the success of the day, Isla shared how much she enjoyed seeing people smiling and having fun, and she’s already thinking ahead to future fundraisers, including plans for events later in the year.

The Dancing in the Light of Love fundraiser was a beautiful reminder of how the power of dance, kindness, and community spirit can bring people together; not just for fun, but for a cause that matters to so many across Jersey.
