Geographers of Solitude
Geographers of Solitude
Ballet d'Jèrri is proud to collaborate with ŻfinMalta, Malta's national dance company, in a groundbreaking new production directed by ŻfinMalta Artistic Director Paolo Mangiola.
In Geographers of Solitude, twenty dancers from both islands unite to explore the shared threads that bind their distinct geographical and cultural landscapes.
Drawing inspiration from the Arctic Tern, renowned for its extensive migratory patterns, this performance serves as a dialogue on diversity, the delicate balance of various voices, and the cultivation of collective harmony. Similar to these birds seeking refuge on both islands during their arduous journey, the dancers on stage navigate the transient and enduring aspects of island life, exploring the nuanced relationship between solitude and community in both individual and collective narratives.
Performed at Jersey Arts Centre, Geographers of Solitude delves into the concept of islands as microcosms of the larger world - a confined space where inhabitants develop unique cultures and societal structures.
