Footsteps / Sand and Their Castles - Friday Evening

Ballet d'Jèrri makes its highly anticipated debut at the newly refurbished Jersey Opera House, presenting an evening of powerful, thought-provoking contemporary dance. Featuring two audience favourites alongside original works by renowned choreographers Garrett Smith and Tess Voelker, this performance marks a significant moment for Jersey’s national dance company.

Footsteps – Choreographed by Garrett Smith
Originally performed to acclaim, Footsteps explores the fleeting yet impactful nature of human connection. Smith - an accomplished choreographer and former dancer with Houston Ballet and Norwegian National Ballet - uses bold physicality and intricate dynamics to reflect on the random intersections that shape our lives.

Sand and Their Castles – Choreographed by Tess Voelker
Tess Voelker's Sand and Their Castles is a quirky and intimate portrayal of the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Known for blending dance and theatre, Voelker captures both the bittersweet loss and joyful rediscovery of childhood through expressive movement and storytelling. A rising voice in contemporary dance, Voelker has danced with Netherlands Dance Theatre and is now associate choreographer with le Ballet de l'Opéra national de Paris.

This milestone performance is Ballet d'Jèrri's first on the main stage of its new home, the Jersey Opera House. It not only showcases the creative vision of two distinctive choreographers but also celebrates a new chapter for Jersey's performing arts scene.
