Velvet Vibrations: A Beachside Dance and Arts Collaboration Celebrating the Sea

April 20, 2026

This summer, Jersey's creative community will gather for Velvet Vibrations – Frequencies for the Sea, a unique interdisciplinary project that explores our deep connection to the ocean through dance, music, visual art and collective expression.

Created by internationally recognised multidisciplinary artist Corey Ceccarelli, the project brings together a wide range of creative voices including dancers, singers, young visual artists, poets, a choir and a live orchestra. Each element responds to the rhythms, energy and fragility of the marine world, creating a powerful artistic reflection on the sea that surrounds island life.

A collaborative celebration of the ocean
At its heart, Velvet Vibrations is both a celebration and a call to care for the oceans. Artists from different disciplines and backgrounds will contribute their own creative responses – from dance and music to poetry and visual art – forming a collective artistic experience that highlights the importance of environmental awareness.

The project places a strong emphasis on collaboration and community participation. Students and youth participants will play an important role, contributing sea-inspired artworks, choreography and music that will become part of the final performance environment. Their work will help shape the visual atmosphere of the event, creating a shared creative space where movement, sound and imagery come together.

A performance on the shoreline
The final live production will take place on the beach at Plemont Bay during low tide on Saturday 11th July 2026 at 10am. Performing directly on the shoreline will create a truly immersive setting, where the natural landscape becomes part of the stage.

Audiences can expect a reflective and atmospheric experience, with dance, music and visual storytelling unfolding against the backdrop of the sea. The setting itself will play an important role, encouraging participants and viewers alike to slow down, listen and reconnect with the natural forces that shape life on the island.

Creativity with a purpose
The project also reflects a wider movement of artists using creativity to raise awareness of environmental challenges. Through collaboration and shared expression, Velvet Vibrations – Frequencies for the Sea highlights how the arts can inspire reflection, connection and positive action.

By bringing together dancers, musicians and artists in a collective response to the ocean, the project celebrates both the richness of Jersey’s creative community and the importance of protecting the marine environment that surrounds it.
