Step Into Edwardian London with 'My Fair Lady' in Jersey

May 10, 2025

The Jersey Gilbert and Sullivan Society is set to captivate local audiences with its upcoming production of My Fair Lady, running from Tuesday 27th to Saturday 31st May 2025 at Les Quennevais School.

This beloved musical, based on George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, follows the transformation of Eliza Doolittle, a spirited Cockney flower seller, under the tutelage of the pompous phonetics professor, Henry Higgins. As Eliza undergoes rigorous speech training to improve her job prospects, an unexpected and heartwarming bond develops between the two characters.

Dance numbers to delight
While My Fair Lady is best known for its witty dialogue and iconic songs such as "Wouldn't It Be Loverly", "I Could Have Danced All Night", and "Get Me to the Church on Time", the show also features a number of joyful and lively dance sequences. From the refined movements of the Embassy Ball to the playful energy of the Ascot Gavotte and the spirited ensemble routines in Covent Garden, the choreography brings a rich layer of visual storytelling that enhances the charm and vibrancy of the production.

A talented creative team
The production boasts a skilled creative team:

  • Director: Michelle Parker
  • Musical Director: John Shield
  • Producers: Jennie Crocker and Julia Le Feuvre
  • Choreographer: To be confirmed!

Each performance begins at 19:30 and concludes at approximately 22:05, including a 20-minute interval; this is with the exception of the final performance on Saturday 31st May which runs from 14:30 until approximately 17:05.
