Spotlight Q&A: Aura Pole and Fitness

June 27, 2026

Part of the Dancing in Jersey Spotlight Q&A series.

Welcome to the latest edition of Spotlight Q&A, where Dancing in Jersey founder Hayley sits down with the people shaping the Island's vibrant dance community.

This time, the spotlight falls on Charlotte and Becs, the founders of Aura Pole and Fitness, a brand-new pole dance and fitness studio opening in St Helier on 6th July 2026. Ahead of the launch, they share how Aura came to life, why now is the right time for a dedicated pole studio in Jersey, what newcomers can expect from their classes, and their ambitions for building a welcoming community where confidence, strength and movement go hand in hand.

Dancing in Jersey (DiJ): Tell us a little about yourselves – who are Charlotte and Becs, and what inspired you to launch Aura Pole and Fitness in Jersey?
Aura Pole and Fitness (APF): We have both always been passionate about fitness, dancing and teaching. Charlotte trained professionally as a dancer and Becs trained as a teacher. We wanted to combine our love of pole fitness to launch Aura.
Dancing in Jersey (DiJ): What made now the right time to open a dedicated pole and fitness studio on the Island?
APF: We feel that there is a gap in the market for a pole/fitness/dance studio that offers a variety of classes to people of all ages. We are both busy mums and felt that now was the time to take the next step to launch our business.
Dancing in Jersey (DiJ): For anyone who has never tried pole before, how would you describe it as both a dance style and a fitness activity?
APF: Pole is so much fun! There are so many different classes you can try, also without having any dance experience. For the dancers, poleography and pole spin are the classes for you. For the gym girlies, they'll love learning to invert, where we do lots of tricks and strength-based work. And for the complete beginners, we have a course, where you come and trial it without being tied into a membership.
Dancing in Jersey (DiJ): There's often a lot of misconceptions about pole. What would you say to someone who feels nervous about giving it a go?
APF: We feel that social media is bringing a lot of positivity around pole dancing and pole fitness. More people are willing to try it, because they see how much fun it can be! We both tried our first classes because of social media, and now try to post as much as possible ourselves about how much we love it.
Dancing in Jersey (DiJ): Aura Pole and Fitness will offer everything from dance and flow to strength, flexibility and heels classes. What can students expect from a typical session?
APF: Good vibes, great laughs and a brilliant workout. Walk into the session feeling tired after a long day at work, and walk out feeling absolutely buzzing from being around a community of strong women!
Dancing in Jersey (DiJ): You've said your classes are suitable from absolute beginner to higher intermediate level. What advice would you give to someone thinking about signing up for your beginner course in July?
APF: Just do it. Don't do what I (Becs) did and wait and watch on social media for 2 years before having the courage to give it a go! July has actually sold out now, so we are looking ahead to August.
Dancing in Jersey (DiJ): How important are strength, flexibility and conditioning in supporting dancers and pole students, and how do your classes help build those skills?
APF: In all our classes, we stress the importance of warming up, conditioning and stretching. Both of us are X-pert qualified pole instructors, hold qualifications with Spin City as well as personal training qualifications. So you know you are in good hands with knowledgeable, qualified instructors, who want the very best for their students.
Dancing in Jersey (DiJ): What are you most excited about as you prepare to open the doors to your new St Helier studio?
APF: Helping people build confidence and seeing a positive change in people from how they were walking in to walking out!
Dancing in Jersey (DiJ): Looking ahead, you have plans for memberships, an app, Aura Boutique and a full timetable launch. What is your vision for Aura Pole and Fitness over the next few years?
APF: We want to build and expand! We would love to eventually move to a bigger studio, to offer teen classes, other fitness classes and teach some aerial fitness (which we are currently training to do) so watch this space!
Dancing in Jersey (DiJ): Finally, why should someone who loves dance, movement or trying new things come and experience Aura Pole and Fitness for themselves?
APF: The short answer is, life is too short not to try new things and not to just book the classes and give it a go. Don't wait to be fitter, strong, or have more time! Make time for you and you'll see yourself becoming a stronger, more confident version of yourself.
