The Jersey Amateur Dramatic Club (JADC) is set to take audiences on an underwater adventure this autumn as it brings Disney's The Little Mermaid to the Jersey Opera House.
Running from 22nd October to 1st November 2026, the production promises a spectacular family musical packed with memorable songs, colourful characters, choreography and theatrical magic.
At the heart of the story is Ariel, the young mermaid who dreams of life beyond the sea and falls in love with Prince Eric. Audiences can expect plenty of familiar favourites from the Disney musical, including Under the Sea and Kiss the Girl, alongside the much-loved story of Ariel's journey from the underwater kingdom to the world above.
A spectacular production
JADC is promising to make this production a real visual treat, with immersive special effects and spectacular stagecraft helping to create its underwater world. The scale of the production is fitting for the Jersey Opera House stage, with the show designed to deliver plenty of those memorable musical theatre moments for audiences of all ages.
For Dancing in Jersey, there is an extra reason to look forward to the production: dance is playing an important role in bringing the story to life.
The production is directed by Ian Barette, with music direction from Tim Evans and choreography by Roberta Rainbow. The musical also features the original dance arrangements by David Chase.
From the energetic ensemble numbers to the movement required to create the illusion of life beneath the waves, choreography will help transform the stage into Ariel's underwater world.
And, of course, any production of The Little Mermaid would be incomplete without the spectacular energy of Under the Sea.
Celebrating local talent
As with JADC's productions throughout the year, The Little Mermaid represents a huge collaborative effort involving performers and the many people working behind the scenes.
Jersey Amateur Dramatic Club (JADC) has a long history of bringing Islanders together through theatre, with its membership involved in performing, backstage work and the social side of the club. The club stages a range of productions, including musicals, pantomimes and plays.
For a large-scale musical such as The Little Mermaid, that community effort is particularly important, with costumes, scenery, choreography, technical production and performance all combining to create the finished show.
It is also another opportunity to see local dancers and performers bringing their talents to the stage.
Something for the whole family
The production takes place during the October half-term, making it a great opportunity for families to enjoy some live musical theatre together.
There will also be a special sing-a-long performance on Tuesday 27th October, giving audiences the chance to join in with the songs they know and love.
The opening performance on Thursday 22nd October also has a special buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer, while tickets are available from £15.00.
With performances running throughout the half-term period, there are plenty of opportunities to experience JADC's take on this much-loved Disney story.
