Each autumn, the Jersey Eisteddfod brings the Island together to celebrate performing arts, and in 2025, the Dance section takes centre stage.
This year marks a special milestone, as the dance section will be held in celebration of the Eisteddfod’s 100th anniversary, running from Monday 27th October to Saturday 1st November 2025 at Les Quennevais School.
The dance section is normally held on alternate years, but in recognition of the centenary of the overarching Eisteddfod, the Dance Festival will run this year. The Jersey Eisteddfod has a long heritage in the Island's cultural life; the organisation itself states it "has been celebrating the creativity, talents and performing skills of people of all ages from Jersey (and elsewhere) since 1908".
This year's staging of the Jersey Dance Eisteddfod therefore isn't just another annual event, but a belated centenary celebration of dance within the Eisteddfod framework. For dancers, teachers, studios and the entire Jersey dance community, this provides a chance not only to compete and perform, and/or spectate, but also to reflect on decades of movement, discipline, innovation and community.
