Jersey Capoeira is a sports club run and managed in Jersey by Monitora Corujinha, under the authority of Filhos da Bahia Capoeira Melbourne.
About
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian Martial Art encompassing fight, acrobatics, dance elements, music and song. It derives from the plantations and streets of Brazil as an expression of emancipation during the slave trade era.
Benefits include: physical strengthening, spatial awareness, confidence, an escape from daily life, and union.
Classes are held twice weekly on Tuesdays (19:00 - 20:00) and Thursdays (18:00 - 19:00) at the Methodist Church hall (behind the church) in St. Aubin. All ages and abilities are welcome.
Kids-only classes are held at the same location on Saturday afternoons from 12:00 - 12:45.
